US 376480 – Provide first aid as an advanced first responder (NQF Level 3, Credits 8)

PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 

This unit standard is to enable the first responder to react to emergencies at an advanced first aid level, until the arrival of more professional emergency personnel.     

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1 

Explain the principles of advanced primary emergency care in all health emergencies. 

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 

Demonstrate an advanced level of preparedness to deal with potential emergencies.   

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3 

Assess and manage a complex emergency scene/disaster.   

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 4 

Explain the applied anatomy and physiology of the human body systems and describe the emergency care management.

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 5 

Apply primary emergency life support for adults, children and infants according to current international and/or national protocols.  of disorders and diseases relating to each physical system. 

SPECIFIC OUTCOME 6 

Explain and manage shock.
